Notes from Bentucky

There's this little village in a southeastern Washington river valley that is like so many others...so many others that are hidden jewels. Benton City has garnered the name "Bentucky" because it is considered backwards by the raised noses of the near-by communities. We like it that way. It's "Back Home in ol Bentucky" to the strings of mandolins, banjos, fiddles, dulcimers, guitars and the like. Take off your cufflinks and other puffery and join us!

American Political Cowboys

Ain't it quaint what the EU (European Union) folks think of the American cowboy! It's a hoot. They actually (not all "theys", but enough) think that calling us cowboys is an insult...heck, it's a compliment! . Reagan did the horse thing to great affect and Bush is sporting that image as well. Ain't it great to have Americans that are proud of their heritage. Can't understand folks that get into the masochistic self-flagellation so prevalent with the girlie men of today's American Liberal culture. I must have something wrong with me, right? Broken. Archaic. The new man is to have no patriotism, no guns, no values (traditional, anyway), no testosterone, and no backbone...sound like anyone you know? Thought so. I miss the ol cowboys that rode fast, talked straight (and honest), saved the damsels in distress, and loved their horses. A world where relative good had no place. Where prayers at the dinner table were a respected and reverent time and where preachers were the good guys. Guess I'm jes ol fashend. An dum. Feels right...think I'll keep it.
